What you should know before buying a shelter
Snow load by zone
Across Europe snow load varies from 0.4 kN/m² (coastal) up to 4 kN/m² (Alpine > 1500 m). As standard we exceed 2.2 kN/m². For exposed locations we reinforce the structure.
Planning permission
As temporary structures (no foundation), our shelters usually only need a building notification to the local authority. The exact requirement depends on the council and zoning plan.
PVC tarpaulin: 750 vs 900 g/m²
750 g/m² is the agricultural standard, good for a 10–15 year service life. 900 g/m² is the industrial grade, recommended for high wind exposure or intensive use.
Ground anchoring
For firm ground: bolted 60 cm ground anchors. For soft or sandy ground: special anchors or partial concrete pad at load-bearing points.
